Recovery Starts Now.

Your Journey to Freedom Begins Here.

At Foundations to Freedom, we believe everyone deserves an opportunity to rebuild a meaningful life. Our recovery homes throughout Central Florida provide safe, structured environments where individuals recovering from substance use disorders can find encouragement, accountability, and hope for the future.

Our residences in DeLand are homes first — shared meals, shared chores, shared accountability.

In a domestic violence crisis? Your journey to freedom starts now.

f you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, help is available today. Foundations to Freedom provides confidential safe housing, wrap-around services and advocacy. Call any time — you will speak with a person, not a menu.

You Are Not Alone — Support Is Here

Support is already here — and it looks like a front door.

Recovery is about more than finding a safe place to live. It is about rebuilding confidence, strengthening relationships, and developing the skills needed for lasting independence.

Our recovery residences provide supportive housing, personalized case management, peer support, and practical life-skills development. Whether you are beginning recovery, reconnecting with family, or preparing for independent living, our compassionate team is here to help. We serve individuals and families throughout Florida and beyond, including men, women, parents with children, veterans, and young adults ages 18–24.

The Foundations to Freedom method

Four phases. One direction: out the front door and into your own life.

Each phase builds on the one before it. Nobody is rushed, and nobody graduates without a written transition plan approved by their case manager.

01

Settle & stabilise

Move in, build your plan

Clients settle into their sober living home, begin a recovery wellness action plan and build a support system. You seek employment, attend daily mutual-support meetings and abstain from alcohol and mood- or mind-altering substances. Staff provide drug screening and breathalyser for all clients.

02

Life skills

Budget, chores, relapse prevention

You continue everything from Phase 1 while working on essential life skills — managing a chore list, building a personal budget. You attend mutual-support groups and work relapse prevention, co-dependency and anger management with your peer support specialist.

03

Graduate

Regular check-ins, then a transition plan

Case managers and peer support specialists keep regular check-ins, providing emotional care and monitoring progress, and additional benefits open up. At the end of Phase 3 you graduate — with an approved transition plan and a list of outside resources including healthcare providers, sponsors and schools.

04

Alumni

Up to a year of transitional housing

Alumni transitional housing is available for up to one year on a week-to-week lease. You maintain employment, sustain recovery, submit to drug testing and stay in aftercare with your peer support specialist and case manager.

Benefits of Our Recovery Residences in Central Florida

What a structured house actually gives you.

Personal transformation can be challenging to achieve alone. At Foundations to Freedom, we help individuals build the confidence, stability, and practical skills needed to become active, productive members of their communities. Founded by Katherine Russell, whose personal recovery journey inspired the organization, Foundations to Freedom provides compassionate support rooted in understanding, accountability, and hope. Our experienced case managers and peer support specialists help clients establish recovery goals, access community resources, strengthen relationships, and prepare for lasting independence. We are committed to maintaining high standards in our recovery homes while providing individualized support that recognizes each person’s unique circumstances.

Safe, Structured Place

Our halfway houses provide safe, structured environments for people recovering from substance use disorders. Clients are required to seek employment, attend school, or volunteer. Our recovery residences emphasize healthy routines, personal responsibility, and community connections. Through peer support and individualized guidance, clients can build a foundation for lasting recovery.

Creating the path

Our structured recovery housing and wrap-around services help clients transition successfully from halfway houses back into their communities. Through personalized case management services, employment assistance, transportation support, and life skills development, clients gain practical tools for independent living. Our programs encourage accountability, meaningful connections, and continued personal growth.

Peers who have been here

Most of our employees are in long-term recovery. Certified recovery peer support specialists, case managers, care coordinators and a transportation team — people who understand the complexity of addiction firsthand.

Certified and accountable

FARR certification and NARR affiliation mean our homes are held to published standards and a code of ethics — with a grievance process you can use without fear.

Rides to what matters

A dedicated transportation team gets clients to work, court dates, medical appointments and meetings. Losing your recovery because you lost your ride is not acceptable to us.

Life beyond recovery

Quitting substances is only the first stage. True recovery is finding yourself, uncovering your strength and committing to growth — our programs are a roadmap for the part that comes after.

Am I an addict?

Five honest questions. Nobody is watching your answers.

Answering yes to one or more of these questions does not automatically mean you have a substance use disorder. However, it may mean that speaking with a qualified professional could help. Recovery begins with recognizing that change is possible. Whether you are concerned about your substance use or looking for support for someone you love, reaching out can be an important first step. At Foundations to Freedom, we provide recovery housing, compassionate guidance, and community connections to help individuals move toward healthier, more independent lives.

Do I use drugs to cope or to feel “normal”?

If you find yourself relying on drugs to manage stress, emotions or everyday life, it may be a sign you are using them as a coping tool rather than for occasional use.

When drug use starts affecting responsibilities, performance, or the trust and closeness you have with other people, that is often a red flag.

Needing drugs badly enough that it leads to dishonesty or illegal activity can indicate that drug use has taken priority over your own values and boundaries.

Struggling to quit even when you genuinely want to shows that the drugs may have created a physical or psychological dependence.

Continuing to use despite negative consequences is one of the strongest indicators that drug use may have become an addiction.

Ready to take the first step toward a new life?

Whether you are seeking recovery support, resources or simply a safe place to rebuild, your journey begins here. Start your journey today — freedom and a brighter future are waiting for you.
